The Robert Mathew Award  
 
This Award commemorates CAA's first President Sir Robert Matthew and recognises innovative contributions to the development of architecture, in the Commonwealth context. The award is to be made to an architect or architectural office making the most outstanding contribution having particular relevance to the country or region in which the architect or architectural office operates.

In 2000 the award went to Ken Yeang with TR Hamzah and Yeang of Malaysia with a commendation to Roland Paoletti and the London Transport Jubilee Line Extension in-house architectural team. more

Conditions of the Award

1.
The award is given once in the term of each Council elected by the Assembly of CAA and is awarded on appropriate occasions at the time of Assembly meetings.
2.
The award is to recognise innovative contributions to the development of architecture, especially in the Commonwealth context, by an architect or architectural practice being members of one of the architectural institutes or associations, which are members of the Commonwealth Association of Architects.
3.
The award is to be made to an architect or architectural office making the most outstanding contribution to the development of architecture having particular relevance to the country or region in which the architect or architectural office operates.
4.
The award may be made for cumulative contributions made over the current session of the CAA Council and the immediately preceding session from submissions made by the Councils of the member institutes.
5.
Each member institute will make one nomination, not necessarily restricted to the members of that institute or association.
6.
The nomination to be submitted to the Secretary of the Commonwealth Association of Architects with appropriate supporting material two months prior to the date set for the penultimate Council meeting held prior to the General Assembly in the year of the award.
7.
The awards shall be judged by a jury of two members of the profession and one layman, appointed by the President of the Commonwealth Association of Architects for each award.
